Generic Caduet (Amlodipine 5mg & Atorvastatin 10mg) contains two active ingredients. Atorvastatin is a type of drug called an HMG CoA reductase inhibitor, which blocks the production of cholesterol. Amlodipine belongs to a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It relaxes the blood vessels, improves blood flow and makes it easier for the heart to pump. The combination of Amlodipine and Atorvastatin is effective for treating high blood pressure (hypertension) or chest pain (angina) as a result of high cholesterol or high triglyceride levels.
